Our local kids surf academy lessons run during term time alternating between Wednesdays and Fridays to best suit the tide, and Saturdays alternating AM and PM. During the school holidays we run them daily, depending on demand and sea conditions. All abilities are welcome from across the county, from first timers looking for an introduction to the sport, to little rippers after more advanced coaching and video analysis.
We always aim to have two instructors on for this group, one for the beginners and another for the improvers helping children to get a lesson more specific to their needs. There are never more than 6 children per instructor, allowing us to give the surfers more attention and feedback.
We sometimes use the GoPro action camera mounted on surfboards and a standard camera from the beach, as coaching tools.
The voice activated camera mounted on the board gets some great close up footage and slow motion replay can bring back fun memories as well as help improve technique
To help surfers track their progress and keep the fun alive we have written a Junior Surfing Pathway with certificates every 5 sessions.
